Need a fun October themed project to work on? Check out these Halloween inspired garments to get your creative juices flowing!

Trick or Treat by The Sassy Skein

The first garment is a cute children’s sweater pattern called “Trick or Treat” by The Sassy Skein. The design is complete with creepy crawly spiders, orange pumpkins and spooky ghosts–perfect to keep your little ones warm this fall. We recommend using a DK weight yarn like “Cotton Classic” in the following colors: Black #3002, Orange #3401, White #3001, Yellow #3553, and Green #3764. The pattern is sized for 2T, 4T and 6T and is knit of a 24” circular needles size 6-7.

The second project comes from the “Stitch ‘N Bitch Handbook” (page 160) by Debbie Stoller, published by Workman Publishing. This type of design is called “shadow knitting” or “illusion knitting” which means that depending on the angle you look at your finished garment at, the pattern will disappear and reappear. Shadow garments are always knitted sideways which helps to create the “illusion” design. For any shadow knitting project it is highly recommended that you use two strong contrasting colors of yarn. As you can see in our black and orange Alien Scarf, the contrast of colors allows the design to really stand out when view from the correct angles.
